About Us

The world paused in 2020 and the Cearley family, like many others, began to question our place in it. We decided to sell our house, along with most of what was in it, and move to a 100+ year old, one bedroom, farmhouse on Shannon’s family's ranch out side of Stephenville Texas. You could say we went a little crazy durning the “2 weeks to flatten the curve”. Join us as we try to learn the old ways of small plot farming and figure out how modern day living fits into that.

Dexter is a FireFighter/Paramedic when he isn’t clearing brush or chasing around cattle. Dexter started the Panhandle Primate Podcast in 2016 where he interviewed guests from all walks of life. Dexter is also a short story author and writes blogs. He enjoys running and shooting his bow.

Shannon has her master’s degree in Linguistics. In 2024 she became a Professor as Tarelton State University where she teaches English and Literature classes.

Emmett is in elementary school. He enjoys playing soccer and basketball and wants to be an engineer when he grows.

Callahan is the resident mad man of the Cearley klan, he loves to ride his scooter and wants to be a scientist when he grows up.
